Overview
The Research Nurse is a specialized hybrid role focused on clinical patient recruitment and oversight. This position is a direct-hire, part-time role (20-30 hours per week). It combines licensed nursing responsibilities with deep-dive clinical data analysis to identify and engage potential participants for large-scale clinical trials.
This role is ideal for a "jack-of-all-trades" professional who possesses a high degree of curiosity, clinical judgment, and advanced proficiency in EPIC.
Responsibilities
- Identify, recruit, and pre-screen potential study participants using EMR/EHR systems and databases following practice-specific access and communication protocols
- Interact with private practice partners (COPC, OKC, CN) to ensure knowledge of patient participation and facilitate questions as they arise
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies
- Maintain screening logs and track recruitment metrics
- Collaborate with study teams to ensure study goals are met
- Act as a liaison between participants, study team, and SOC providers
- Provide staff education and training
- Obtain Informed consent and perform clinical procedures aligned with study protocols (EKG, spirometry, etc.)
- Perform skilled nursing procedures (infusions, assessments, etc.) and monitor patient safety and adverse events
- Educate study participants on clinical conditions and clinical trial procedures
Requirements
- Active Ohio nursing license (RN)
- Experience in clinical research or healthcare
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems
- Knowledge of GCP, FDA regulations, and HIPAA
- Strong clinical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to decipher medical charting conventions and apply to clinical trial protocols
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
