Lilly's Biotechnology Discovery Research organization has a track record for delivering novel biotherapeutic medicines in key areas of unmet medical need in a variety of therapeutic areas. This position is at the interface of the Protein Biosciences and Computational Design groups at the Lilly Biotechnology Center in San Diego.
We are searching for a highly motivated and creative research scientist to be part of a team responsible for conducting high throughput antibody characterization experiments in support of antibody discovery and computational design.
Primary Responsibilities
- Implementing studies to elucidate antibody binding and epitopes using a variety of tools but focusing on high-throughput surface plasmon resonance (SPR).
- Analyzing large datasets to assess antibody characteristics and identify promising molecules based on project goals.
- Synthesizing reports and clearly conveying experimental results to project teams.
- Embrace and celebrate diversity by using a relevant and unique background and set of experiences to provide new ideas to deliver innovative solutions to drugging novel targets.
Basic Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree with basic laboratory research experience in chemistry, biochemistry or a similar discipline
- Research experience working with proteins and basic biochemistry
- Understanding of antibody-antigen interactions
- Strong team player with effective oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to work productively and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team environment
Additional Skills/Preferences
Familiarity or experience in the following would be considered advantageous:
- Experience with SPR or other label free techniques for observing antibody-antigen interactions
- Coding and data visualization skills using Matlab, Python, R or related program to analyze large data sets
- Experience with Benchling or other ELN platforms
- Basic understanding of statistical principles for data analysis
- Experience with automated liquid handling
- Other analytical or biophysical techniques

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$71,250 - $187,000
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
