The Position
We currently have an opening for a Senior Environmental Engineer reporting directly to the Environmental Manager. This role is responsible for environmental compliance reporting, sampling coordination, waste management, and interpreting federal and state environmental regulations as they apply to mill operations. The Senior Environmental Engineer will design and troubleshoot reporting tools, is proficient with the PI system, and is familiar with environmental permits, regulatory limits, and pulp and paper processes including NCG systems, wastewater treatment, boiler operations, and pollution control equipment.

Job Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental compliance reports (Air Emissions, DMRs, MACT I & II, Title V, SARA 312/313, Dangerous Waste, GHG, air emission inventory, etc.) using data from Excel and PI databases.
- Serve as PTPC's designated preparer and communicate with regulatory agencies such as Ecology and EPA.
- Conduct waste sampling, testing, profiling, and inspections. Coordinate universal waste, dangerous waste, and recycling pickups; track manifests; and ship hazardous/dangerous goods as needed.
- Review and approve new SDSs and maintain the online SDS database.
- Coordinate annual, quarterly, and special sampling events, including source testing.
- Manage permit-related tasks including fee payments, purchase requisitions, equipment orders, and recordkeeping.
- Provide support and vacation relief for lab technicians and the Environmental Specialist, including field sampling (water, air, stack, waste, and process testing) and basic lab work. Provide off-hours support when needed.
- Prepare environmental manuals and guidance documents and update the EMS.
- Calculate facility emissions for all required compliance reporting.
- Interpret and analyze regulations and permit limits.
- Investigate and respond to odor/opacity complaints.
- Maintain and troubleshoot environmental spreadsheets and reporting tools.
- Provide environmental training and updates to management and mill personnel; support operations meetings.
- Support waste reduction efforts and oversee off-site waste disposal.
- Assist the Environmental Manager during absences or when duties are delegated.
- Provide technical support and data to mill operations.
- Maintain laboratory and sampling equipment and use computer systems required for environmental work.
- Track environmental project expenses and process payments for permit fees and penalties.

Required Experience
- Minimum 5 years of environmental compliance and reporting experience, preferably in the pulp and paper industry.
- Knowledge of federal and state air, water, and waste regulations.
Required Education
- BS in engineering or sciences required or relevant work experience.
Employment Terms
- Full-time, Exempt position
- Salary range: $103,500-$160,500
