Our Company is seeking a highly motivated candidate for the position of Senior Principal Scientist (R6) within the Discovery Platforms and Biology group. This group sits within the Infectious Disease and Vaccine Discovery organization, providing scientific research leadership and enablement for the organization. The role will require the individual to work to establish a high-throughput platform(s) initially suitable for nucleic acid and protein sub-unit antigens for evaluation. They will provide scientific input, lead on capital investments, and recruit key talent to establish the high-throughput platform. This team will work in partnership with discovery scientists to drive our discovery engine for new antigens.
The ideal candidate should have an established track record in leading research and scientific problem solving. They should have demonstrated commitment towards scientific advances related to vaccine discovery and development and progressing new high-throughput technologies and methodologies.
The applicant will have the ability to collaborate and integrate activities with internal and external partners (eg, across the division, across our Company, alliance partners, vendors, academic institutions) to execute innovative and efficient research and development activities.
The individual will report directly to the Head of Discovery Platforms and Biology and will be required to represent the group on certain duties. S/he will receive general guidance on policy matters and as required for the coordination of vaccine discovery activities with those of the rest of the Division and/or Company and will be expected to communicate the scientific and business value of certain decisions and gain the support of internal/external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will also have a proven track record of developing talent and high performing teams from a diverse scientific background and will have the ability to advance our Company's commitment to a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Minimum Qualifications include:
- A PhD in biochemistry, biochemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or relevant field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in aspects of vaccine discovery and development with exposure to all stages and aspects of vaccine development.
- Excellent understanding of automation platforms for high-throughput development
- Track record in the aspects of vaccine discovery, development, and commercialization
- Strong process development knowledge

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
Effective September 5,2023 our U.S. Hybrid work model will be as follows: 1. Three total days on site per week: Tuesday and Wednesday - plus one additional day of choice based on what works best for organizations and/or teams. 2.
