About the Role
We are hiring a Chemical Process Engineer to support production processes within our Wet Process area. This role ensures processes are documented, controlled, compliant, and continuously improved. The Chemical Process Engineer plays a key part in product quality, water treatment compliance, equipment maintenance documentation, and technical support for new capabilities.
The Chemical Process Engineer reports directly to Engineering/Plant Leadership.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and improve Wet Process manufacturing operations
• Support production teams daily through troubleshooting and mentoring
• Investigate and resolve nonconformances using root cause analysis
• Communicate with customers on quality, workability, and design issues while maintaining confidentiality
• Maintain and create process documentation; resolve audit findings
• Collaborate with Engineering, Plant Management, Sales, and Quality to resolve process, material, and design concerns
• Lead improvement projects and support new capability development
• Recommend capital investments aligned with company goals
• Document and standardize equipment and chemical maintenance
• Perform monthly water sampling and coordinate analytical testing for city reporting
• Monitor RO and softening system performance
• Monitor discharge water (pH, metal content, volume) and hazardous waste handling
• Train employees in hazardous waste and chemical safety protocols
• Analyze systems for capacity and manage upgrades when needed
• Identify and resolve non-compliant water discharge causes
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Required
• B.S. in Chemical Engineering or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in flexible circuits or circuit board manufacturing
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, SPC, or Lean Six Sigma
• Understanding of HAZWOPER OSHA requirements
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 principles and application
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills for cross-functional and customer interactions
• Ability to manage documentation and maintain compliance
• Proficient written and verbal communication in English
Preferred
• Experience training employees in hazardous waste handling
• Experience managing water treatment systems or discharge compliance
Working Environment & Physical Requirements
• Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled office and production environment
• Some areas may involve exposure to hazardous conditions; required PPE is provided
• Physical requirements align with normal manufacturing and plant-floor standards
• Periodic work on the production floor with standard environmental conditions
