This position is a member of our External Relations Division.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Coordinate development of web content for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  • Conduct usability research, assessments, and testing of webpages and application interfaces. Apply usability best practices which include usability testing. Define user needs, preferences, and behaviors by using tools and research methods, such as user interviews, field studies, customer support data, and analytics.
  • Use plain-language techniques to edit web content and application designs.
  • Participate in developing/designing and maintaining the agency's web information architecture. Collaborate on content strategy-and ensure all content meets the needs of the intended audience and adhere to agency standards and guidelines, including accessibility. Factor accessibility considerations into designs. Utilize web UX-UI practices.



Qualifications:

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

A bachelor's degree with a major in journalism, public relations, advertising, communications, English, or a natural resources or science related field, plus three years of full-time experience in writing, scripting, editing, related areas in communications, or in positions involving such activities as journalism, outreach, public relations, advertising, preparation of public information releases and reports, and other news materials, or performing related activities in a public or private enterprise.

Four years of full-time experience in writing, scripting, editing, related areas in communications, or in positions involving such activities as journalism, outreach, public relations, advertising, preparation of public information releases and reports, and other news materials, or performing related activities in a public or private enterprise.

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

In-person schedule determined by the External Relations Division.
