Vice President, International Medical Affairs

Reporting to the Vice President, Global Medical Affairs, the Vice President, International Medical Affairs will provide strategic medical leadership across all International Markets (i.e. Rest of World), operating as part of the International Leadership Team and partnering closely with cross-functional leaders to shape and execute international medical strategy. A close partnership with the Vice President International Market Access will be particularly critical to build advocacy and our engagement with senior external stakeholders in priority markets.

This role will be responsible for global-to regional-to local medical strategy execution, field medical enablement, scientific communications, data generation, and external engagement, ensuring alignment with global medical priorities while addressing regional needs.

This leader will play a critical role in scaling Viridian's international medical affairs capabilities in advance of and through commercialization.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

International Medical Strategy & Leadership

  • Serve as the senior medical leader for International markets, providing strategic direction and oversight for medical affairs activities
  • Operate as part of the International Leadership Team to align medical strategy with commercial, regulatory, and market access plans
  • Lead/drive all external Medical Affairs relationships with our partners across Go Direct Outsource Markets (i.e. with selected GTM contract service organization Inizio), Commercial Partner/Distributor markets and Licensees (Kissei Japan, Zai China).
  • Feed into ongoing iterations of the International strategy and launch sequence, leveraging the US/Global Medical Affairs strategy and tailoring for International markets
  • Translate global medical strategy into regionally and country relevant plans that reflect local scientific, regulatory, reimbursement and healthcare system considerations
  • Build, lead, and develop international medical affairs teams and capabilities over time, including oversight of external vendors and/or internal medical headcount

Scientific Communications & Publications

  • Provide strategic oversight for international scientific communications and publication activities, shaping and aligning with the global publication strategy
  • Ensure execution of congress activities, abstracts, manuscripts, posters, and presentations relevant to international audiences
  • Partner with global publication and scientific communications lead to shape international narratives and ensure consistency across regions
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with international authors, key opinion leaders (KOLs), medical societies, and congress stakeholders

Field Medical & External Engagement

  • In partnership with the MSLs and Market Access team, be externally facing to build advocacy (veligrotug/viridian), KOL relationships, professional society engagement, and support payer/HTA engagement and lobbying.
  • Provide medical leadership and guidance for International Field Medical (e.g., MSL) strategy, engagement models, and scientific exchange
  • Support the development of training materials and scientific resources to enable high-quality, compliant scientific exchange
  • Oversee planning and execution of international advisory boards, expert panels, and scientific exchange forums

Data Generation & Evidence Strategy

  • Partner with global medical and clinical teams to support integrated evidence generation plans relevant to international markets
  • Provide strategic input into investigator-sponsored research (ISR/IST) activities and real-world evidence initiatives aligned with international unmet needs
  • Analyze and interpret emerging international clinical, real-world, and competitive data to inform medical and lifecycle strategy

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Market Access, Commercial, and HEOR teams
  • Serve as a key scientific and medical resource for International leadership discussions plus internal and external international product teams
  • Deliver regular progress updates to the Head of International and other stakeholders on medical strategy execution, insights, and risks

Requirements

  • Requires an advanced scientific or clinical degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent) with 20+ years of relevant industry experience, including significant leadership experience in Medical Affairs
  • Demonstrated experience leading international or global medical affairs activities across multiple regions and partnering with critical functions such as market access
  • Deep understanding of international regulatory, compliance, and medical governance requirements
  • Strong background in scientific communications, medical strategy, and KOL engagement
  • Proven ability to analyze and clearly communicate complex scientific and clinical data
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Strong commitment to scientific integrity, ethical standards, and compliant medical practice
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required, up to approximately 30-40%
