In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our legacy Injectable Finished Products (IFP) facility in Clayton, NC is a 457,000 square foot aseptic "fill and finish" site that is responsible for producing innovative, injectable diabetes and obesity treatments. Position Purpose
Provide leadership & guidance to Automation support staff, to include developmental coaching, performance management & driving positive employee engagement through building a collaborative, high-performing team environment & motivate employees through continuous feedback. Responsible for automation system support & overseeing subject matter experts within MES, Historian, PLC/SCADA application & asset management. Ensure support processes, service level agreements are in place & people are trained sufficiently to meet the system uptime requirements. Develop strategic goals & objectives in alignment with relevant Novo Nordisk (NN) business plans. Drive improvement projects & system upgrades.
Accountabilities
- Assist in developing strategic direction for the company’s automation assets, monitors advancements in the industry, recommends & implements new technologies that help meet customer demands as well as production goals/agreements for the IFP US site
- Collaborate with department leadership with oversight of automated system training, development, coaching, performance management, recruitment, & employee relations.
- Manage, lead & coach teams of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure a high performing collaborative team environment. Provides continuous feedback, structure & accountability to improve team performance
- Drive technical discussions & problem-solving standards
- Create, develop, define & implement dynamic Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & behavioral expectations for areas of responsibility
- Actively involve & manage stakeholders at all levels across the organization
- Ensure automation systems & processes are available, capable & accessible to meet production & business requirements
- Assist department management in operating in accordance with internal & external regulations & procedures
- Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field of study from an accredited university required
- Minimum of three (3) years of people leadership experience required
- Complex knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, MES, & Historian required
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Intelligence systems required
- Knowledge of systems architecture, Infrastructure, networking, & instrumentation required
- Knowledge of system development & life cycle management required
- Knowledge of production support processes required
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of seven (7) years IT or Automation experience required, preferably in a GMP manufacturing environment
- Knowledge & experience with DeltaV, PAS-X, Siemens PLC/HMI & Rockwell PLC/HMI systems preferred
- Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques & methodologies (including systematic problem-solving standards) preferred
- Knowledge of injectable finished production environments preferred
- Knowledge of Automated Storage & Retrieval systems preferred
- Knowledge of Automated Guided Vehicles preferred
- Project management & IT governance, including support & system management, business continuity & forecasting
Physical & Other Requirements
- Occasionally moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds
- Constantly operates a computer & other office equipment
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally, up to 10% of the time
- Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction
- Ability to work the hours necessary to support a 24/7 continuous manufacturing operation
